This may sound weird to some but there are certain foods that intimidate me. I’m talking about intimidating to make, not eat…LOL! Some of the food that are intimidating to me are sweet potatoes, lasagna, and (until recently) hummus. I know, I’m weird but aren’t we all in some ways? #EverybodysAWeirdo

#HummusMadeEasy

I don’t know why hummus scared me so much? Maybe the long list of ingredients? Maybe because I had never heard of tahini oil? Maybe simply because no one I knew had ever made it before? Who knows. All I know is that I love to eat it. HA!

The other day I was at WalMart doing a little grocery shopping and I ran across these #HummusMadeEasy pouches. Interesting concept, all you have to do is blend one pouch up with a can of beans. Doesn’t sound too hard right? Right! So naturally I grabbed all three kinds because why not? I seriously do love hummus and use it in a lot of ways. I am on the go a lot so anything that can make my life easier is a huge plus, also anything that can help me get over e a food intimidation is a bonus!!

Luckily for me I bought myself a brand spanking new food processor a few weeks ago that was begging to be be used so when I got home that night I whipped up a batch of Spicy Black Bean Hummus. I realize the package calls it Southwestern Black Bean but in my head I’ve been calling it Spicy Black Bean.

I have to admit that I was super impressed with how easy this stuff is to make. I mean, it sounds easy enough but I can mess up even the easiest of recipes so I was shocked when literally all you have to do is drain a can of beans (black beans for this hummus) and throw it in the food processor with the contents of the pouch. It literally took less than a minute of blending to get this amazingness…

I paired my Spicy Black Bean Hummus with some Cracked Black Pepper and Olive Oil Triscuits and can I just say this is my new fave snack!!! I was even nice enough to take my leftovers to work the next day and it was gone in a matter of minutes!!

dipping hummus

One thing I love about this hummus is that you can make it as smooth or as chunky as you want. I like mine kind of smooth but it’s totally up to you!

After the sweet sweet success I had with my Spicy Black Bean Hummus I was inspired to make more!! The next night I decided to try my hand at the Roasted Red Pepper Hummus. I mean when you hit one out of the park you want to try another! I am seriously addicted to Roasted Red Pepper Hummus anyway…I like to use it as a dip for veggies and pita chips, as a spread on sandwiches, and just to eat it with a spoon. HA!

PS- Was I the only person in the world who didn’t know that Garbanzo Beans are the same thing as Chickpeas?? Not so intimidating anymore…for this yumminess I decided to use my Roasted Red Pepper Hummus to stuff some mushrooms with. All I did was wash up some baby portabella mushrooms, pop the stems out, and smash some hummus in there. Then I baked those bad boys at 350* for about 20 minutes and then topped them with some Sriracha after I plated them. They were the perfect addition to some grilled chicken and sweet potato fries (that I got from a bag because real live sweet potatoes still scare the pants off of me).

stuffed mushrooms

Can I just say HOLY MOLY and HOW have I never thought to do this before??? I have been really into sriracha sauce lately and topping the mushrooms with it just added that little extra oomph that they needed. These babies will definitely be making a repeat appearance in my mouth soon. And the Roasted Red Pepper Hummus? YES!! It was perfect in this recipe and I can think of about five more ways I want to use it. Definitely #HummusMadeEasy

Last, but certainly not least is the perfectly yummy Classic Hummus. I know classic hummus is supposed to be classic but it always tastes pretty garlicky to me, which I love! I don’t know why I water to make this hummus last, maybe because I thought it would be boring? HA! It’s anything but boring!! Also- the whole garbanzo beans are chickpeas is still mind blowing to me.

classic hummus

I made this hummus one night after a long day at work and was the perfect “Netflix and Chill” food. It was also perfect on my roast beef wrap the next day for lunch when I realized I was out of mayo…so hummus as mayo? Ummmm…yes!!

hummus wrap

In case you are wondering, there is hummus on the wrap and then more to dip it in because I am a total food dipper. My friends laugh at me but I love to dip my food in stuff. I am the self-proclaimed condiment queen and in this case more hummus us definitely better!!

My overall opinion of Bush’s #HummusMadeEasy is definitely a good one. It literally takes less than five minutes to make from cracking open a can of beans to being in my mouth and if you know me at all then that is huge in my book. The quicker and yummier, the better!! I love all of the different flavors of hummus and I love how versatile it is. I love that I can take it to work with me and snack on it and not feel guilty because it’s healthier than most dips I eat. You can also use it in a ton of different recipes from my stuffed mushrooms and wraps to a seven layer dip, hummus deviled eggs, hummus pizza, hummus nachos, and the list just goes on.

Now that I have conquered my fear of making hummus I guess it’s time to tackle sweet potatoes and lasagna. HA!!!
